The secret to any training program is to actually do that work on your own computer as you go through the material. They have videos and also PDF learning guides, each of which comes with a suite of sample files to download so you can actually do everything in the lesson on your own computer. If you haven't already spent the time with the material on the DaVinci Resolve training page then I'd highly recommend you give them a try before spending money on a course. I was wondering if you finally enrolled to this course and what your verdict is. But if I make the leap then I'll spend the time - it's the best way to maximize your benefit. One of the things that's been holding me back is knowing that I'll have to spend time learning the tool. I'm still on Premiere CS6, and I've been strongly considering migrating to Resolve so as to get more modern features in a product that I don't have to rent. It was time well spent, I now feel very comfortable in Premier Pro and editing is an enjoyable process rather than the frustrating experience it once was. I arranged to spend an hour or two a day for a couple of weeks methodically going through the book and all the examples. I'm using Premiere Pro, and I got the Adobe "Classroom in a Book" course for it.
The issue for me was setting aside the time needed to properly learn the tool. The reduced cost of the course will quickly pay for itself just by the time I would save. The frustration is that I miss out on so many features and take much longer than I know I would if I was more familiar with the software. I'm probably going to take the leap myself. So Alex's recent free tutorial on the new version 16.1 Cut Page synch bin's ability to hook-together clips recently impressed me as the best way to go.
And then to add some fairly basic titling and a few stills. My most important subject is my pianist wife's classical chamber music concerts, usually shooting with two fixed tripod mounted and a third on a monopod (or even in-hand- my EM1ii's ibis allows that!) and the challenge is then to colour-match clips and synchronize everything to a separate pro recorder's wav file.and then intercut footage of individual performer's "chops". Also bought a couple from Ripple, and they were better, but, at 71, need a cohesive and comprehensive, well-organized set of courses on this monster of a program, with its 3,000+ page manual. Bought a few from Udemy and have access to Lynda, but find that while some instructors try hard, the "lessons" tend to be scattered, out of date, and examples mediocre. Can anyone contribute their experience Film Simplified? I am considering "pulling the plug" on $97 Black Friday bundle deal because of his well-paced, up-to-date, high (production) quality free tutorials.
